Nonpartisan approach
We publish verifiable public-record facts with links to the source: official city, county and state websites, the Utah Public Notice Website, election canvasses, campaign-finance filings and conflict-of-interest disclosures. We do not endorse anyone.
Date labels
Confirmed: an official source states the date. Calculated from current law: derived by applying current Utah statute to the calendar; confirm with the filing officer.
District lookup
Addresses are geocoded by the U.S. Census Bureau. District boundaries come from the Utah Geospatial Resource Center (SGID), Salt Lake County (including Taylorsville council districts derived from the Clerk's voting precincts) and Granite School District. The water-provider line uses Salt Lake County's copy of the Utah Division of Water Rights culinary water service areas (pulled April 2026). Matching runs in your browser. Addresses are not stored.
Election map data (free sources only)
- Officeholders: the public-domain congress-legislators dataset.
- Candidates: Wikipedia's 2026 Senate and House race tables (CC BY-SA 4.0; each list cites a state election office), cross-checked against the FEC candidate file (public domain). Utah's U.S. House candidates come straight from the Lt. Governor's official certification. Each candidate shows where it came from.
- Race ratings: Cook Political Report, Inside Elections and Sabato's Crystal Ball ratings as compiled in Wikipedia's rating tables (CC BY-SA 4.0). Each rating is credited and linked to its publisher. Ratings are the publishers' opinions, not facts.
- Results: official, free state election-office feeds (Arizona, Georgia, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and Washington via Enhanced Voting; North Carolina State Board of Elections; Florida Division of Elections; West Virginia via Clarity once its election ID is posted). Races are marked won only when the official source flags a winner or the results are certified. This site never projects winners. Elsewhere the map shows "Data pending". The paid AP feed is not used.
- District lines: U.S. Census Bureau. States that redrew for 2026 (AL, CA, FL, LA, NC, OH, TN, TX, UT) use TIGER/Line 2026 congressional districts; Missouri keeps its 2022 map for 2026 after the U.S. Supreme Court's Sept 25, 2026 stay.
- Utah Legislature: the Legislature's official legislators.json, fetched live with full certificate checking and refreshed daily.
Analytical ratings
See the rating method. Ratings are opinions, labeled as such, and never presented as fact.
Known limitations
- taylorsvilleut.gov blocks automated access; some city facts come from archived copies and Public Notice postings.
- Some campaign-finance figures are OCR'd from scanned PDFs and should be spot-checked.
- Taylorsville City Council districts are built from the County Clerk's 2025 voting precincts (each precinct is tagged with its council district) and were checked against the Clerk's PDF maps. A point right on a boundary can still match the wrong side, so confirm on vote.utah.gov.
